About the 5th Annual POLYPMSE Symposium
The 2026 Pentennial Symposium was a success! Faculty, post-docs, graduate students and undergraduate students came together to celebrate research in the field of polymer science. The event was shared between both the FSU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Thank you to our sponsors and the POLY/PMSE Student Chapter at FAMU-FSU!

Plenary Speakers - Keynote Presentations
A total of four invited speakers gave keynote presentations during this year's POLYPMSE Symposium. This included the event's first ever invited student speaker and industry speaker!.

Justin Kennemur (FSU) - Keynote Presentation
A Blast from the Past: Synthesis and Dynamic Chirality of Helical Polycarbodiimides
Lawrence Sita (UMD) - Keynote Presentation
Multi-State Living Coordination Polymerization: The Long and Short of It

Dr. Mike Sims (SYENSQO) - Keynote Presentation
From Flasks to Fighter Jets: How Foundational Polymer Science Shapes Materials & Careers in the Aerospace Industry
Courtney Sever (Veige Group, UF) - Keynote Presentation
Synthesis of Cyclic-Cyclic Olefin Polymers

Provided Lunch and Poster Session
After the provided lunch, a poster session consisting of 10 posters took place. The session had four judges, made up of senior graduate students and a post-doc!

Student Oral Presentations
At the POLYPMSE Symposium, students and post-docs are given the opportunity to give an oral presentation. The oral presentation judges consisted of three faculty and an industry representative.

Awards Ceremony
At the end of the symposium, awards were given to the best poster and oral presentations. Congrats to Nagham Abou Hamad (Left, Graduate Student, Schlenoff Group) and Nat Torres (Right, Undergraduate, Ricarte Group) for winning best Poster and Oral Presentation, respectively!

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!
